Porn Viewing Increases during Christmas Season

Viewing of porn is reportedly at its highest during the Christmas season, and a group of Christian filmmakers is taking a new approach to address this epidemic.

Pornography in general has been on the rise--so much so that some legislative bodies have even declared it a public health crisis.

A review of the latest Google Search Trends has revealed that during the week between Christmas and New Year, porn viewing is at its highest, according to Charisma News. Christmas Day is excepted from this trend.

An astounding 68 percent of men in the church use pornography, so even Christians are in desperate need of a breakthrough on how to conquer this addiction.

A group of Christian filmmakers have recognized that the traditional approach of counseling those addicted to porn to pray more, memorize Scripture, study the Bible, etc. just isn’t having the desired results.

That’s why this group has released the "Conquer Series," a film series that seeks to address the real issue behind porn viewing--lack of self-worth.

"[T]hey usually find porn at a very early age and it helps them cope with the pain they're facing in their childhood. But they don't realize what the enemy is doing to their brain,” explains series director Jeremy Wiles.

"Most men, without realizing it, are medicating the beliefs they have about themselves: they are worthless, God hates them, if only people knew the real me. So this increase in shame drives the need for more medication in the form of pornography, which releases dopamine and a concoction of other neurochemicals, and gives them a euphoric 'high'," Wiles continues.

The creators of the "Conquer Series" hope that the film will help those addicted to porn find a real, viable solution to conquering their addiction.

"Trying harder doesn't work. The answer is not to avoid spending time with family or make a pledge to never watch porn again; rather, it is to get into a process where you can find healing from what's driving the behavior and learn biblical strategies to find freedom from porn," stated Wiles.
