Rick Warren’s health and weight loss book “The Daniel Plan: 40 Days to a Healthier Life” was named Christian Book of the Year at the recent Evangelical Christian Publishers Association (ECPA) annual banquet.

Christian Today reports “The Daniel Plan” by Warren, Dr. Daniel Amen and Dr. Mark Hyman offers a biblical perspective to weight loss. It emphasizes getting healthy in a group for support.

“The Daniel Plan” was inspired after Warren noticed that many of his congregants were overweight. 15,000 Saddleback Church members took the challenge and collectively lost 250,000 pounds in one year.

The book’s website says, "What makes it different from other wellness programs is that The Daniel Plan was built with 'love' as the motivation. It's a reflection of God's love for us. It's a story of abundance, not deprivation. A step by step approach that helps you make small changes that lead to big results. Your journey is one of progress, never perfection."
