Fourteen people have been killed and 17 injured in the deadly shooting at a San Bernardino medical facility on Wednesday (Dec. 2).

Although officials are still investigating, FoxNews.com reports that they believe the shooting may have been an act of terrorism.

Married couple Syed Rizwan Farook, 28, and Tashfeen Malik, 27, reportedly left their six-month-old girl with Farook’s grandmother while they attended a holiday party hosted by the San Bernardino County health department, Farook’s employer.

The party was being hosted at the Inland Regional Center, a nonprofit community agency which serves people with disabilities in San Bernardino and Riverside counties, according to Heavy.com.

Farook and Malik reportedly left the party after an argument and came back to carry out their attack.

Law enforcement officials are still gathering evidence, but they believe this shooting--which is the deadliest U.S. mass shooting since the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in December 2012, according to CNN.com--was premeditated.

"They came prepared to do what they did, as if they were on a mission," San Bernardino Police Chief Jarrod Burguan said.

Farook and Malik were reportedly each carrying an AR-15 rifle and a pistol after they left the scene of the crime and drove away in an SUV. The police caught up to them about two miles from Inland Regional.

Both Farook and Malik were killed in a shootout with police.

Thousands of people took to social media to express their thoughts and prayers for the victims and their families.

“My heart is heavy because of the shootings in San Bernardino. Praying for all the people affected by this tragedy,” tweeted one Twitter user, Judah Smith.

The San Bernardino shooting was the 355th shooting to take place this year, according to Christian Today.
