Selena Gomez has revealed that her favorite Christian singer is an artist who has written music for Hillsong.
According to The Christian Post, when asked who her favorite Christian artist is, the former Disney star, who is currently promoting her new movie, Hotel Transylvania 2, said that she loves Brooke Fraser’s music.
"I love Brooke Fraser. She's my favorite and I have the pleasure of knowing her and she's incredible. I've always loved her music."
Fraser has written songs for the megachurch, including the popular “Hosanna” and “Soon.”
Gomez regularly attends Hillsong’s U.S. branches and knows Fraser personally.
"I love Hillsong as well. I love all of their worship, I'm a sucker for all of it," Gomez stated.
Gomez says she grew up in church and even used to wear a purity ring, although she has stated that a purity ring “isn’t for everyone.”
She says she asked her father for the ring when she was 13. Her father even had the ring blessed by the pastor.
Gomez did not say whether taking the ring off signalled the end of her commitment to remain a virgin until marriage, but some speculate that the decision to no longer wear the ring came at the time Gomez was dating fellow star, Justin Bieber.
“I'm also not embarrassed to say that the ring has come off,” Gomez said. “I got it when I was 13 and I respect so much what it represented, but it isn't for everyone."
