Actress and Fox News contributor Stacey Dash will be playing the role of Meriam Ibrahim in an upcoming film about the persecuted Christian’s life.

Christian Today reports Dash will portray Ibrahim, a Sudanese Christian woman who made international headlines last year for refusing to renounce her Christian faith. Ibrahim married a Christian American citizen, which Sudan viewed illegitimate. She was put in prison with a death sentence and gave birth to a baby girl in chains. Only after an international outcry, was Ibrahim released from prison; she and her family are now safely in the United States.

The movie about Ibrahim’s life, called “I Am A Christian,” is only in its beginning phases, as filmmakers are searching for donors to contribute money to meet the film’s $500,000 production goal.

Associate producer Brian Harrington said, "Presently Meriam is not involved in the project. Regardless, we still intend to give her and her family 10 (percent) of the film's gross, not because we have to, simply because it is the right thing to do."

He continued, "Once the project has gained momentum, both online and in the news, we do intend to reach out to Meriam and offer her a chance to become officially involved.”
