Survey: 53 Percent of Americans Believe God has 'Special Relationship' with US

Over half of Americans believe that God has a special relationship with the US, according to a new poll from LifeWay Research.
Christian Today reports a survey of 1,000 people indicated that 53 percent of Americans agreed with the statement that God has a special relationship with the US. The number increased to 59 percent among Southerners, 62 percent among African Americans and 67 percent among Evangelicals.
LifeWay Research executive director Ed Stetzer said, "'God bless America' is more than a song or a prayer for many Americans. It is a belief that God has blessed America beyond what is typical for nations throughout history. I am sure that would spawn many theological conversations."
