Former NFL quarterback and retired minor league baseball player Tim Tebow has reportedly been working out with the Jacksonville Jaguars football team as a tight end.

According to ESPN, Tebow, who hasn’t played in the NFL since his stint with the New York Jets in 2012, requested a tryout from the Jaguars. As such, he was reportedly invited to work out with the team.

NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport shared the news on Twitter, noting that “there has been at least some discussion of him signing” as a tight end.

Rapoport added, “For years, Tim Tebow resisted a shift to tight end. Now at 33 years old, Tebow could return to his hometown team.”

No decision has been made about Tebow thus far.

After winning the Heisman Trophy in 2007, Tebow, an outspoken Christian, went on to play three seasons in the NFL. During that time, he played quarterback for two seasons with the Denver Broncos and one with the New York Jets.

ESPN reports that Tebow’s best season was in 2011, when he “played in 14 games, going 7-4 in 11 starts to lead the Broncos to the playoffs.” That season he also rushed for 660 yards.

Following his brief football career, Tebow decided to pursue a baseball career. He played minor league baseball for the New York Mets organization as an outfielder from 2016 to 2021.

According to ESPN, he made it as high as Triple-A baseball. In February of 2021, after playing four successful seasons with the Mets organization, Tebow announced his retirement.

Tebow has also made something of a name for himself as a sports commentator.

As Christian Headlines previously reported, last year, Tebow married Miss Universe 2017 Demi-Leigh Nel Peters.

After a brief engagement, the two tied the knot at a 30-minute ceremony this January in her native South Africa. The sizeable wedding had around 260 guests.
