UK Churches Offer Support after Deadly Stabbing in Russell Square

UK churches near the area of a fatal stabbing in Russell Square are calling for forgiveness and are reaching out to their community.

 

ChristianToday.com reports that  a woman in her sixties was killed on Wednesday by a 19-year-old Norwegian national who was originally from Somalia.

 

Police arrested the man and said that the attack was not “in any way motivated by terrorism,” and that there was no evidence that the suspected perpetrator had been radicalized.

 

In addition to the one death in the knife attack, five people were wounded.

 

After the attack, nearby churches offered prayer, comfort, and support for the community.

 

St. George’s Holborn stated: We're “open and we’re manned and ready to respond to anything.”

 

The rector of the church told Christian Today: “We’ve spoken to other vicars locally and are hoping to unite and remain open for prayer throughout this time.”

 

The church invited anyone in the community to stop by for prayer and a cup of tea:

Another church, Bloomsbury Baptist, also voiced support for anyone in need during the aftermath of the attack:

The local MP, Labour’s Keir Starmer, also commented on the attack, saying that his thoughts were with the victims.
