Washington Appears Uninterested in Tunisia Terror Attack that Killed 38

The number of Britons killed in the Tunisian gun attack is expected to jump to about 30, the BBC reported.

In total, 38 people were killed when a man, who was reportedly linked to the Islamic State group, opened fire near Sousse. 

The Queen has sent her “sincere condolences” to the families’ of the victims. 

"We send our sincere condolences to the families of those who were killed and our deepest sympathy to the people who are still fighting for their lives in hospital, and those who have been seriously injured.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with those of all countries who have been affected by this terrible event."

Identification of the victims is slow because of Tunisian laws. The coroner in Sousse requires medical or dental records for the identification process.

Police have Seifeddine Rezgui, 23, in custody for the attacks. Interior ministry spokesman Mohamed Ali Aroui said officials are “sure” Rezqui had help.

Three of the killed were Irish. One was Belgian and one was German. Another 36 people were injured.

In response to the attack, Danielle Pletka, of American Enterprise Institute, writes that America needs to pay more attention to these global attacks.

“President Obama and others appear fixed on more clerical style analysis of the jihadi phenomenon, apparently believing that insisting these attacks are perversions of Islam is an adequate substitute for action,” she said.

She also warned that the next attack could be on America.

“But the next terrorist attack on the United States — and it will come — will spur more calls to action. Wouldn’t it be wise to dramatically step up training, arms supplies, support and whatever is needed to begin to reverse the Islamist tide, rather than waiting until the only solution is the commitment of US combat forces? Just saying.”
