Anointed: New Horizons

J MAN: I've heard the new CD. What can people expect from Anointed on If We Pray?

Da'dra: The new CD comes out Oct. 16. The title's If We Pray. We've got a variety on it. Especially for those who have seen us in concert, we try to put stuff on our CD that's going to work live.

J MAN: What makes If We Pray different from your previous projects?

Da'dra: The energy level, new vocal arrangements ... We stretched ourselves in that area on this CD. New producers, we've incorporated some new sounds. Those things are kind of different, which makes the CD a little more hip.

J MAN: There's a unique concept on the new album where children pray. Who are the kids and how did you come up with that idea?

Da'dra: The little girl is the daughter of some friends of ours, Ashley. And the little boy is Steve's son, Monty.

Steve: It kind of just evolved while mixing that song. [If We Pray]. We're just sitting there discussing how it would be great to have children praying. There were about four or five kids we recorded, and we picked Monty and Ashley for the record.

J MAN: Your live events are so extreme. How do you prepare yourself for that?

Da'dra: First, before we go on stage, we try to make sure that we have taken some time to really pray. A preacher made this statement that said "Anointing rides in the wings of praise and worship." We just take time to really worship God before we get on stage. We get in that mode where we can hear what He wants for the people.
