The Common Cold
by Berni Dymet

Luke 24:46-47 Thus it is written, that the Messiah is to suffer and to rise from the dead on the third day, and that repentance and forgiveness of sins is to be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem.

I recently caught the flu in my travels - the shakes and aching joints and my head - well, I just wanted to take it off at the neck for a while.

We all know what that's like - and yet it's caused by these tiny little microscopic viruses.  So small you'd think they were insignificant.  And yet, they knock you off your feet.  One day you're fine, and the next - you feel like you're dying.

It's like the impact of the stuff we do that we know is just plain wrong.  The stuff God calls "sin".  And we think to ourselves - Oh yeah sin, shmin.  Technically it might be wrong, but it's only small.  It's insignificant.

And yet wrong is wrong no matter how small - and ultimately, it has real consequences; consequences that ruin our lives; consequences that seem disproportionately large, to the tiny little microscopic…sin.

Consequences so devastating - that God chose to deal with them...On a Cross.
