Crash Bang
by Berni Dymet

I Cor.15:51-52a Listen, I will tell you a mystery!  We will not all die, but we will all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet.

Last Saturday was pretty much an ordinary Saturday for me.  Out of bed a little later, off for a walk and some exercise, out for a coffee with Jacqui my wife.  In the afternoon we drove down to a rug store - to find a rug for our lounge room.  I parked the car on the side of the road, opened the door and then BANG - I was covered in shattered glass.  Another car had come along at speed and collected my driver's side door.  The car had to be towed.

I was standing on the side of the road and it struck me that I was just a split second away from stepping out of the car.  Another half a second and I probably wouldn't be here.

And that's how it is - only a split second separates life and death.  In just an instant, it can all change.  Bang.

Can I ask you this - where are you going to spend eternity?  It takes just a split second - but eternity - well that's a very long time.
