Knowing God-Part 2

August 8, 2013

“And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.” - John 20:30-31

You might be thinking, “How can I get to know God? Other people seem to have some kind of inward revelation that makes them know Him, but I never do. No matter how much I pray everything seems dark to me. Yet, I want to know God, but I do not see how I can manage it.”

My friend, the trouble is that you have the wrong idea of knowing God. Knowing God is not some mystical interior revelation to be sought after. It is just the plain, matter-of-fact knowledge of God’s nature and character. It comes to us by believing what is revealed to us in the Bible. Knowing God intimately involves reading His Word and believing it, and listening to His still small voice, moment-by-moment, and obeying what He instructs you to do.
