Who Are You Helping
December 22, 2014
A minister was once asked by a friend, “How many members do you have in your church?” “One thousand,” the preacher replied. “Really!” his friend was impressed. And how many are active members? “All of them are active,” came the unexpected reply; “about two hundred of them are active for the Lord, the balance are active for the Devil! ”
My friend, we must remember that our lives as Christians are either active for the Lord or for the Devil. Sometimes we are tempted to think that because we are not doing anything especially wicked that we are living for God. The fact is that a respectable life may not be enlisted in any active and positive service for God. Therefore, not to be helping the cause of God according to one’s ability simply means that this life might be hindering the work of God. You can know this is what the Devil is up to in the local church.
Maybe it is time for you to think more wisely about your life and service in the Lord’s work. I sincerely think we all need to ask ourselves not what our church can do for us, but what we can do for our church. We are all one in the body of Christ and we all have a part to play. Let’s roll up our sleeves and do the work of ministry under the direct control and power of the Holy Spirit.
My prayer and desire for you, my friend, wherever you may be is that you will disappear into God, be submerged in His peace, and be lost in the secret of His face. We are seated together right now at His right hand in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.
