Christian Friendship-Part 8

March 12, 2015

The Lord Jesus is our perfect example. He often went away to spend time with the Father, and you and I need to spend time away from all the business that comes in our lives each day and get alone with God as well. This is the only way we can have a pure heart. Only God can reveal those attitudes and actions that do not belong in the lives of His children. We also need to practice confession and repentance as we get alone with God. 1 John 1:9 – “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

You see, when we confess our sins it keeps guilty feelings away. Guilty feelings are why we try to avoid God and spending time alone with Him, and why we avoid true genuine friendships. Because we are indwelt by God we must surrender to Him, and when we do our lives will change and we will live our lives as unto the Lord and our lives will produce the fruit of the Spirit of God within us; love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, longsuffering, faithfulness, and self-control. My friend, it is most important that we be these things so that people are drawn to us and we can point them to the Lord Jesus Christ and grow them up in discipleship.
