Christian Friendship-Part 4

March 6, 2015

Jesus said in Matthew 5:8“Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God.”

You see a pure heart and sinfulness cannot coexist. That is why I often quote Bertha Smith who was a missionary to China, she use to say, “Stay close and clean.” What she meant by that statement is this…when you are aware of sin in your heart, sin in your life, practice immediate confession of sin. Why? Because all of us sin. There are none of us who live perfect lives on this earth; we are never free from sin. Positionally, yes, but here on this earth conditionally, no. When God’s Spirit lovingly convicts us of sin we’re to practice immediate confession of sin. Why? Because not to causes prolonged feelings of guilt and this causes us to live our lives withdrawing from other people and leaves us unsure of who we are in Christ. So a pure hearted person is one whose motives are unmixed, whose thoughts are holy, and whose conscience is clean.

James 1:8“A double minded man is unstable in all of his ways.”
