The Indwelling Christ

November 8, 2013

I’d like to talk to you today about the fact that Christ dwells in every believer. I want you to understand that Christ Himself is in Heaven, but He lives in us by the Holy Spirit.

So, what does the Holy Spirit do for us? He makes Christ real to us. He causes us to know that His Spirit is in us. The Holy Spirit is the Christian life. He lives the Christian life through us because it is impossible for us to do so, in the flesh.

The ministry of the Holy Spirit is to make Christ as real to us as He was to His disciples. Yet, Christ is not real to many Christians. Many say this, “I believe the Bible, I pray, I go to church; yet, Christ is not real to me.  Why is this so?”

First, we need to point out that there are those who think they are Christians, but they have never truly been born again. Christ is not real to them because they do not belong to Him, and the Holy Spirit does not indwell them. The Bible says, “If any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of His.” As for those who are truly born again, the reason Christ is not real to them is because they are grieving the Holy Spirit.

When we grieve the Holy Spirit, He no longer manifests Christ to us, and we lose our sense of the Lord’s presence. Christ never leaves us, but He does not seem real to us because we have grieved His Spirit. We restore our fellowship with God by confessing our sins and this will allow the Holy Spirit to make Christ real to us once again.

Oh my friend, won’t you choose this day to confess and repent of all your sins and stay close and clean with your heavenly Father. This is how to make Christ real to you.
