Read: 1 John 2

Key Verse: “The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever.” - 1 John 2:17

The world is seductive, cruel, and misleading. It is important to point out that creation is beautiful and points to God’s power and existence. This verse is addressing the system and values of fallen humanity, not the sun, moon, and stars. The apostle John says that the world consists of sinful cravings, the lust of the eyes, and the boasting of what you have or have done. None of these come from the Father, but they are very popular in every nation.

Doing the will of God starts with putting your trust in Jesus and receiving His gift of eternal life. With gratitude, begin to follow Him and imitate Him. As you serve God, know that your work is significant and makes an eternal difference. Sin, on the other hand, is short-term deceptive cheap thrills. What opportunities do you have today to do God’s will? Spend some time asking and listening to God about what work today will last. His instruction is your food.
