Cleansed - Sunday, April 28th 2019
Then Jesus put out His hand and touched him, saying, "I am willing; be cleansed." Immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
A man with leprosy has approached Jesus, not questioning His ability to heal him, but boldly leaving his disease up to the will of Jesus. In a culture where being ostracized for this type of disease was the norm this is a very bold move. The Lord gives a caring and loving response, telling this man, who no doubt had heard the phrase Unclean! Unclean! for most of his leprous life, "I am willing; be cleansed." God is willing to heal us and cleanse us of so much. How can we get under this cleansing of the Lord?
that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word
Often the Lord washes and cleanses us by being under the continual teaching of the Word and using it as our weapon for application instead of just a showpiece. We all have a part of us that needs a continual cleansing. This is understood especially by parents that have young kids that need help to take care of those dirty parts they have difficulty learning to clean well. Just as we have compassion on the little ones, the Lord has compassion on us as we allow Him and His Word to wash over the areas of our life that we flounder and fail at as we seek to follow Him.
Life Lesson: The beauty of the Word of God is its ability to wash and make clean those who apply it.
Thank you that you have paved the way so I can have direct access to You through Your death on the cross for my sins. Please continue to cleanse me from all those things that I have in my life that don't give You glory. Help me Lord take heed to Your Word and rightly apply the Word You have given me to be cleansed by. I thank you in advance. You are my Heavenly Father and I trust You to help me. In Jesus' name. Amen.
Living to tell what He died to say,
