If your light is hidden... Monday, December 26th 2016

Ephesians 5:14

Therefore He says: "Awake, you who sleep, Arise from the dead, And Christ will give you light."

Early in American history a French philosopher named Alexis de Tocqueville came to see for himself what made this nation so great. He said "Not until I went to the churches of America and heard her pulpits aflame with righteousness did I understand the secret of her genius and power. America is great because she is good, and if America ever ceases to be good, America will cease to be great."

The statistics in America today should give us pause. According to Barna 73% of Americans identify as Christians. Of those Christians only 31% are considered practicing Christians. Some Christian Millennials interviewed cannot name even one of the Ten Commandments, the first book of the Bible, or how to get to heaven. Friend this shouldn't be.

In the book of Ephesians we are called to sit, walk, and stand for Christ and His word in our lives.

Ephesians 2:5-6
5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,

Eph 2:8-10
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

Eph 5:15-16
15 See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, 16 redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

Eph 6:11
11 Put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

William Borden was an heir to the Borden fortune worth millions of dollars. At the young age of 25, in Egypt pursuing the mission field, he contracted spinal meningitis and died shortly thereafter. A note was found with him that read six words: No Reserves. No Retreats. No Regrets.

Friend if we are sitting with Christ, walking in the works of Christ, and standing with Jesus in all that we do as Christians we will be able to say the same thing. Please take the time to be in fellowship, prayer, service, and giving continually unto to the Lord. This is where the good fruits of His Spirit in our lives begin manifesting and the Glory of the Lord shines on into all the world around us. It begins with us, those around us, our churches, and into all the world.

Life Lesson: The book of Ephesians progresses in thought, like our lives should progress in actions: Sit, Walk, Stand.

Thank you for all the goodness that You have shown to me in my life. Lord, please continue to help me awake and arise to the calling You have for my life. Help me to sit in Your presence, walk in all Your good works you have planned for me, and give me the courage to stand against the wiles of the enemy. I need the fresh filling and power of Your Holy Spirit to do this. Please give me Your grace and strength to live with no reserves, no retreats, and no regrets. In Jesus name, Amen.

Living to tell what He died to say,
