Borrowed Troubles - Friday, October 9th 2015
2 Chronicles 20:12
"O our God, will You not judge them? For we have no power against this great multitude that is coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are upon You."
It is very easy to become overwhelmed with life's circumstances. Whether it's the loss of a job, a relationship gone bad or fear of the future, we all have difficulties to face. So what do we do in those times? We do what Israel did in 2 Chronicles. With the enemy coming against them and unsure of what to do, they put their eyes on God.
Matthew 6:33-34 "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble." NKJV
As we face life's issues, we need to remain focused on the One who can help us. He alone is able to lead us through hardships all while providing His peace for the journey. We also need to guard against looking for more trouble to carry. Often, it takes just a hint of a problem or a whisper of doubt from a friend to set us off on a tailspin of fear. Instead, we need to trust in the Lord in all things and lay down all our doubts and fear whether imagined or real. After all, life is hard enough without having to borrow more trouble for the journey.
Life Lesson: Don't borrow trouble; you have enough of your own.
Forgive me for my lack of faith and fear that sometimes grips me. Help me to remain focused on You as my source of comfort, peace and hope. Teach me through the hard times and equip me to encourage others who also are in need. In Jesus' name, Amen.
