Oh Give Thanks

1 Chronicles 16:8

Happy Thanksgiving!  Instead of a devotional from Dr. Luke this morning, enjoy your family and maybe some time before the Cowboy Game you might read with your family about King David’s thanksgiving. When he was finally able to bring the Ark of the Covenant back into the Tabernacle in Jerusalem, David couldn’t contain his thanks.

“And when David had finished offering burnt offerings and peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the Lord and distributed to all Israel, both men and women, to each a loaf of bread, a portion of meat, and a cake of raisins…Then on that day David first appointed that thanksgiving be sung to the Lord by Asaph and his brothers, “Oh give thanks to the Lord; call upon his name; make know his deeds among the peoples! Sing to him, sing praises to him; tell of all his wondrous works! …Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever!” 1 Chronicles 16:2-3, 7-9, 34

While you’re recovering from the fact that the Lord has given us far more than a loaf of bread and a little meat like David, you might want to join in and sing as Judith Christie-McAllister sings out Oh Give Thanks! www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZmSjw8ZaiBs

Happy Thanksgiving from Dave and Mary
