The Court

Daniel 7:26-28

There is a judge who will take his seat in the future. He won’t need FBI investigations because he lacks information. He won’t be swayed by majority opinion, and he will also have executive power to carry out his decrees. His sovereign power will last forever, destroying the ultimate earthbound world emperor seeking to oppose him.

“‘But the court will sit, and the power of the Antichrist will be taken away and totally destroyed forever. Then the sovereignty, power, and greatness of kingdoms under the whole heaven will be given to the holy ones, the people of the Most High. His kingdom will be an eternal kingdom, and all rulers will worship and obey him.’

This concludes the matter. I, Daniel, was deeply frightened by my thoughts. My countenance expressed the trouble in my soul, but I kept the matter to myself.”  Daniel 7:26-28

I’m thankful that the Holy Spirit moved Daniel to write down this vision of the future so that we could have the certainty that one day God, the true, impartial judge, will put down evil and install those who worship and obey him as the rightful rulers on the earth. It also encourages me that Daniel is open about his fears when he sees injustice, especially the persecution against those who trust in the Lord and serve him. Let’s rest today in the confidence that the Judge will one day take his seat and Antichrist will be destroyed.

LORD, move leaders today to humbly submit to you and seek to honestly make decisions based upon what is morally right and what will express mercy, especially toward those without power or influence in the culture.
