The Center of Love

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” Galatians 2:20

THINK

Love is focused on the other person more than ourselves. It’s all about sacrifice. In fact, death is the center of love.

Nowhere is that reality more visible than in the love God has for us. Because He loves us so much, He sent His only Son, Jesus, to die on the cross for our sins and to rise again. That death – Christ’s death – is the incontrovertible evidence of God’s supernatural, amazing love for us. It is also what gives us the fuel to love others.

When it comes to those you love – God and others – are you willing to make the sacrifices that are needed to display that love? It’s not about proving your love. It’s about loving so truly that you don’t even question the idea of sacrificing for them.

PRAY

Thank God for His unbelievable, unending love for you. Praise Him for the sacrifice He made in order to show you His love. And pray for the courage and discipline to make sacrifices for those you love.

ACT

Think of the one person you love most. Make this an earthly relationship. Write out three ways that you could sacrifice for them today as an act of love (ex: giving up your “me” time to do something they like; putting away the technology to have a meaningful conversation with them; etc.)
