Like Jesus

The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us.” -John 1:14

THINK

When you think about Jesus, what is the first thing that comes to mind? Maybe you think about the fact that He is God’s only Son. Maybe you think of the miracles He performed. Maybe you reflect on His death, burial, and resurrection. All of those are powerful truths about our Savior. But another powerful reality that we must think of is the fact that, although He is holy and completely God, He can totally and completely relate to us as human beings.

Jesus was fully human while at the same time being fully God. He experienced the same things that you experience every day. He was tempted (though He never sinned). He had friends and family. He was hungry and got tired. Jesus, the Son of God, willingly became like you so that you would not have to serve a God who could not identify with on a personal level. Remember that when you think of who He was and who He is.

PRAY

Thank God for His willingness to step down from heaven and become like you. Praise Him for His love and His identification with you as a human being who walked the earth, just like you do.

ACT

Have you ever thought to yourself, “No one can identify with what I’m going through. No one understands”? Next time that thought creeps into your head, add two simple yet powerful words to the end of that line: …like Jesus!
