Seeing In Darkness
“If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in darkness we lie, but if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.” - I John 1:6-7
Recently I came across a story of a guy named Paul, I guess you could call him the” F-18 man.” To put this in perspective, when he explained how night vision technology works I immediately saw the parallel of the Spiritual life.
Night vision goggles take ambient light from the stars and moon and amplify it. If there is no light, there’s no sight. If the light of Christ is not present in your life, you will not see the enemy or the ground before you crash. Spiritual night vision requires available light in you before it can be amplified to help win the fight. The ambient light of your spiritual character comes from rooting out darkness in internal strongholds and allowing God’s Word to illuminate your mind…… It’s crucial as you move forward.
So be aware: the advantage God’s night vision provides for the fight is only as strong as the light our character maintains. If publicly you talk a good game but privately you compartmentalize and practice sin, all bets are off. Put the book down and go back to square one. Confess and repent of darkness (attitude or action) and start to build back the light.
God’s message is clear: how can a man discern the darkness when he’s shaking hands with it in one form or another? The advantage of God’s night vision provides for the fight is only as strong as the proximity of you to the ambient light of the Holy Spirit that resides in you..
Thank you Father, you have made it much uncomplicated. I need to stay in fellowship with the light in order win the good fight.
