Do You Know the Way to the Father?

Read John 14: 1-6

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.” Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?” Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

Reflect

Do you believe that Jesus is the only way to the Father?

One of the lies many people believe is that if they just believe in God, they will go to Heaven. They may believe that He created the world, they may believe in judgment and Heaven and hell. They may even believe that Jesus existed and was a good man and teacher, maybe even a prophet. But if they deny that Jesus is God and if they reject Him as Messiah, it is not enough.

When Jesus spoke these words to his disciples, He was eating the Passover meal with them. He had just washed their feet, predicted Judas’ betrayal and Peter’s denial, and told them that He was leaving them. Naturally, after hearing so much bad news, they were ready to hear some comforting words. Jesus offered them this assurance-He is preparing a place for them and He will come back to get them. They will be with Him again!

But He also said, “You believe in God; believe also in me.” And He told them that He is THE way. Not a way. He was very clear that in order to get to our Heavenly Father, we have to come through Him. Believe in God, believe in Jesus. There is no other way.

Jesus is preparing a place for you too, friend. And He is the only way to get there.

Pray

Lord Jesus, I know that You are the way and the truth that gives me life. Thank you for the promise that I get to be with You someday. Amen.
