Respond to God’s Word
Read James 1:22
“Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.”
Why is it important to apply God’s Word?
Look for ways to live out the truths of the Bible. This is where spiritual growth really begins. Once we have received Scripture and have spent ample time reflecting on it and pondering it into our lives, we must get our faith moving by responding to it. Remember our definition of the word engage? This is the point in which we may end up interlocking with Christ and wrestling with a hard concept or a command. But if we surrender control to God and take a step of faith, our wills begin to mesh with His.
Little by little, we grow. And step by step the One we’re following begins a deep sanctifying work in our souls.
Jesus says, “Give Me all of you. I’m not so concerned about your time, work, or money. I want you. I haven’t come to torment your natural self, but to kill it. I will give you a new self instead. In fact, I will give you Myself: My own will shall become yours.”
Lord, I want to act on Your Word and live it. Amen.
