Share the Word

Read Romans 10:13-14

"Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in Him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?

How did you come to saving faith in Jesus? Who told you the Good News?

When it comes to the topic of evangelism, many of us immediately clam up. Sharing our faith with others makes us nervous. What if I don't have the right words? What if I say the wrong thing?

But friends, I would ask you to consider this. What if the person who told you the Good News of Jesus Christ never did? What if they let the nervousness of not having all the answers be an excuse?

If you are a believer in Jesus, it is because someone told you about Him. It may have been family, it may have been a friend, it may have been a stranger. But someone cared enough about your eternal soul to tell you the truth.

Just as someone loved us enough to share the Gospel, so we should love others enough to share it with them. The best way to start is with prayer. Pray for opportunities to share His Word with the people around you. Pray that the Holy Spirit would be working in the lives of the nonbelievers that you encounter. Pray that the Holy Spirit would guide you to give you the words and confidence to effectively share the Gospel.

Next, consider how you are living your life. Are you living your life in a way that glorifies Him? Your life is a testimony in and of itself. Spend time in the Word so that you grow in your faith and better reflect the love and life of Jesus.

Finally, use your words. People can be drawn in by your lifestyle and your friendship, but Paul reminds us that they can't hear the Good News without someone telling it to them! Don't feel like you have to have all of the answers and keep it simple.

We are all sinners who deserve to die for our sins. But Jesus Christ died on the cross for us because He loved us so much! He was buried, but on the third day, He rose again and conquered sin and death. If we turn away from our sins and accept the work of Jesus on the cross, we can receive eternal life with Him and make Him the Lord of our lives. If they have questions that you are struggling to answer, invite them to church with you, share Biblical resources with them, and point them to trusted teachers who can help them find the answers to their questions.

It's ok to say, "Let me find out and get back to you."

Remember the person who lovingly shared the message of Jesus with you? You, too, have been commanded to share the Gospel in love. But don't worry! He has already given you everything. You need to share the Word with others.

Father, thank You for placing people in my life who shared the Gospel with me. Give me the opportunity, the courage, and the words to share Your message of salvation with those around me. Amen.
