Spiritual Plateaus

We all hit plateaus. About a year and a half ago, I got back into going into the gym. I had the goal of putting on 40 lbs of muscle. Well, after one year, I put one successfully 20 lbs. And then, I hit a plateau. I've been holding at the 20 for six months. It's frustrating. I know I can reach my goal, but I'm stuck.

Well, every Christian gets spiritually stuck. We walk with Jesus for a time, but then we feel like we're not growing. We're not knowing God better. We don't love Jesus more. We get stuck. What should we do?

Paul tells us this in Romans 12:2: "Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what the will of God is, what is good and acceptable and perfect."

The world is stuck. It's dead in sin. So why would we want to take our marching orders, our philosophy, our world-view from the world? This may be why you're stuck. You're renewing your mind with Youtube, Netflix, talk shows, and social media.

To get unstuck spiritually, renew your mind daily. Get in God's Word. It changes how you think, what you believe, and how you live. The result is a life moving forward. Get unstuck today.

Text in Context: Read Romans 12:1-2

Reflect: What does it mean to present your body as a living sacrifice? Why should we do this? Why should God's Word be our source of renewal instead of the world?

Respond: How much time do you spend in the Word compared to watching tv or using social media? How does this impact your life? Instead of watching one more video or scrolling through social media, try one of our daily reading plans at www.gotandem.online

Prayer: Father, I know your Word is truth. But a deep desire to understand it better and love it more. Amen.
