The Journey with Ron Moore

Ziklag: Escape to the Enemy | Romans 6:20-21 | Devotional

Romans 6:20-21 When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the control of righteousness. What benefit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of? Those things result in death!

Life without Christ is mastered by sin. Granted, we were never as bad as we could have been. And our sins may not have been scrolled along the bottom of the screen during cable news. But apart from Christ, we were “without hope and without God in the world” (Ephesians 2:12). Life separated from Christ results in spiritual death—eternal separation from God.

Life with Christ is mastered by righteousness. Granted, we are far from perfect and certainly not as good as we could be. But Jesus sets us free from sin’s control and allows us to follow hard after God. This is a life that “leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life” (Romans 6:22).

So the question is: Are you following a master or The Master?

Father, today help us to know without a doubt that we have trusted in Christ and our life is mastered by him. May those of us who have life with Christ follow hard after him. In Jesus name. Amen.
