The Journey with Ron Moore

The Power of Love | 1 Corinthians 13:13

1 Corinthians 13:13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

I learned to play four-point pitch on the baseball bus. As I shared earlier this week, there were many things in my background that could cause one to “lose his salvation” and playing cards was one of them. However, being young and risky, I caved. I learned the game coming back from towns like Pawnee, Cushing, and Tonkawa. This is the first thing I was taught: In four-point pitch the Ace of trumps trumps everything.

So does love.

What is greater than mountain moving faith?

What is more powerful than deep and enduring hope?

John echoes Paul’s top-shelf love in his first letter. Read the verses below and see the power of love in action.

1 John 3:14 We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love our brothers. Anyone who does not love remains in death.

1 John 3:17 If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him?

1 John 3:18 Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.

1 John 4:7 Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.

1 John 4:11 Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

(For a good survey of love, read 1 John. The word is used 35 times in the book!)

In the game of life, love trumps everything!
