There's An App For That: How Do I Find Direction? | Proverbs 3:5-6

Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

How Do I Find Direction? Acknowledge God and trust his leading.

Did you know that there are more than 500 federally approved road signs? Each one serves a unique purpose, keeping us safe, pointing us in the right direction, leading us to points of interest, and even helping us to care for personal needs. But the most important directional sign is the one that leads us to a relationship with God, and keeps us journeying with him.

Our passage today is a favorite “road sign” of many believers. We know that when we “lean on our own understanding” we will head down the wrong path of self-counsel. But when we trust in the Lord with all our heart (thinking, emotions, and desires) and acknowledge him as Lord in all we do, he will lead us in the right direction.

Our mistake is to trust in ourselves and follow our own desires. That gets us in trouble every time. We must depend on the GPS of Scripture and the Spirit living within us. Direction in life is found in only one place—following hard after Jesus. He knows the way to our destination. And he will deliver us home safe and sound.

Father, help us to trust in you instead of ourselves or other people. Help us to acknowledge you as Lord in all we do. Thank you, in advance, for taking us to our heavenly destination. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
