Note to Self: Praise God Today! | Psalm 104:10-18
Today's Passage: Psalm 104:10-18
Key Verses: Psalm 104:10-13
He makes springs pour water into the ravines; it flows between the mountains. They give water to all the beasts of the field; the wild donkeys quench their thirst. The birds of the sky nest by the waters; they sing among the branches. He waters the mountains from his upper chambers; the land is satisfied by the fruit of his work.
This psalm begins with the self-exhortation: "Praise the Lord, O my soul." It is a note to selfóget your focus off you and on God! If you are searching for praiseworthy things, this portion of the psalm take you back to basics.
Water. This colorless, transparent, odorless, tasteless liquid is the basis of the fluids of living organisms. Water is essential. Assuming that you are in fairly good shape, you could only live 4-6 days without this essential compound made up of two atoms of hydrogen and one atom of oxygen. And this liquid, that many of us take for granted, comes from the hand of the gracious God.
If you are having trouble praising God, start with water. Thank God that he sees fit to provide you with all the water you need. Thank him for the rain, the springs, and the rivers. Thank him that the "land is satisfied by the fruit of his work." He loves us so much that he takes care of the essentials. AndÖhe can take care of everything else in our life as well.
Father, thank you for quenching my thirst with water. And thank you for quenching my thirsty soul with your presence. In Jesus' name. Amen.
