The Journey with Ron Moore

Community: What is it? | Revelation 21:3-4 | Devotional

Revelation 21:3-4 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."

In heaven, all spiritual barriers will be broken down. Paradise lost in Genesis 3 will be regained. God will dwell among us and interact with us. We will experience in heaven what Adam and Eve experienced in the garden before the temptation and fall—true community…the way it was always meant to be.

Our eternal community will feature uninhibited connection and communication with the eternal God. Those who belong to the Father through Jesus will be with God forever. He will wipe every tear from our eyes by wiping out everything that causes those tears to fall. Death, mourning, crying and pain will be mentioned only using the past tense.

It’s hard to grasp that true today, isn’t it? Death knocks down even our strongly barricaded doors. The process of grief hurts deeply and emotionally, and keeps dispensing agony for weeks, months, years…lifetimes. Tears flow. And our bodies are not strangers to the physical and emotional pain. But one day, face to face with the Lord, the dreads of this life will be gone. Pain will only be spoken of in the context of what used to be.

Until then, Lord, please give us the strength for today. Some are journeying in fear and dread… comfort them. Some are diseased… heal them. Some are depressed… encourage them. Give us a glimpse into the future… today. In Jesus name. Amen.
