The Shadow of the Almighty | Psalm 91:1-8
Today's Passage: Psalm 91:1-8
Key Verses: Psalm 91:1-2
Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust."
There is a direct connection between where we live and how we live. The things that occupy our minds and drive our hearts will determine the state of our beings. If our greatest concern is money we will be filled with insecurity. If we live in the land of doubt we will experience continual discouragement. Brokenness may be what God uses to get our attention and introduce us to grace, but living there will produce a spiritual self-pity far from the life of spiritual fulfillment that God desires for his children.
When we live in the shelter that God provides, however, we will know a peace that passes all understanding. Living in the "shelter of the Most High" gives us balance with our money, causes inevitable doubt to drive us to the Father for strength, and moves us from brokenness to wholeness in Christ.
Here's the question: Where are you living? Homes of materialism, doubt, brokenness, sexual pleasure, unfaithfulness, pride and inward focus will all coming crashing down around you; but when you move into God's shelter you can "rest in the shadow of the Almighty." What are you waiting for? It's time to come home and find rest.
Father, I pray for the person whose mind - whose life - is saturated with the things that result in emptiness. Give them the strength to come home today and dwell in the shelter of the Most High. In Jesus' name. Amen.
