Engaged in the Battle | Psalm 78:9-16
Today's Passage: Psalm 78:9-16
Key Verses: Psalm 78:9-11
The men of Ephraim, though armed with bows, turned back on the day of battle; they did not keep God's covenant and refused to live by his law. They forgot what he had done, the wonders he had shown them.
Satan is not that concerned when we deny God. The results are the same if we simply forget him. We don't have to be an atheist to believe like one. We can have a cross on our necks and fish sign on our car, but that does not guarantee God's guidance in our lives.
The soldiers of Israel's Northern Kingdom had all the equipment they needed, but when push came to shove they were not willing to use their weapons. They forgot all God had done and turned from the battle. God's instruction for living was pushed aside to follow the path of their choosing.
What about you? Are you engaged in the battle? Are you committed to live by God's instruction regardless of the cost? Are you devoted to remember all that God has done in the past in order to live with confidence in the present? Remember, Satan is not as concerned that you deny God; forgetting God is just as effective.
Father, help me to engage in the battle. Don't let me run from it. Don't let me forget your work in my life. Keep me living by your instruction. Don't let me make up my own guidelines for life. Don't let me forget you. In Jesus' name. Amen.
