Ignite! | Isaiah 40:31 | Devotional

Isaiah 40:31 …But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Waiting can be exhausting. In that period of unknown, thoughts race through our mind like a NASCAR speedway. “What if’s” create a sense of dread…even panic. We hit the fast forward button and fearfully imagine what life will be like. Sometimes anxious thoughts swim just below the surface ready to raise their heads when we least expect them. Other times we bring them up to wallow in the worry. Waiting can wear you out. Unless…unless you wait and hope in the Lord.

Note in our passage today that waiting on the Lord does not deplete, but develops the soul. Waiting on the Lord…hoping in Him…depending on Him…gives us new strength. Waiting on the Lord allows us to soar and run and walk and get stronger in the process.

So wait on Him…

Plug in that CD and listen to music that focuses on His goodness. Memorize verses (like this week’s verses) that remind you of His strength. Call that friend that builds you up. Read God’s Word and be reminded of His love. Take a walk and enjoy the beauty of His creation. Go out at night and look up at the stars.

Our hope is in the Maker of Heaven and Earth…Wait on Him!
