Palm Monday is a big day too!
Palm Sunday was a pretty big day. A spontaneous parade, shouting, palm branches, praising. You wouldn’t blame Jesus if he wanted to rest after all the excitement. Instead, Matthew tells us that Jesus woke up on Monday and headed straight for the temple because he had work to do.
“Jesus entered the temple courts and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves. . . . The blind and the lame came to him at the temple, and he healed them. But when the chief priests and the teachers of the law saw the wonderful things he did and the children shouting in the temple courts, ‘Hosanna to the Son of David,’ they were indignant. ‘Do you hear what these children are saying?’ they asked him. ‘Yes,’ replied Jesus, ‘have you never read, “From the lips of children and infants you, Lord, have called forth your praise”?’” (Matthew 21:12-16).
Jesus has that same work ahead of him each day in your life:
Driving out distractions. What in your life gets in the way of actual worship or distracts you from your true purpose? Overturn it.
Healing you. You have hurts and scars and failures that he came to handle for you. He provides comfort now until you are perfectly healed in heaven.
Listening to praise. As God’s child, you were created to praise him. He loves to hear it. Don’t let anyone shush you!
