Memorial Day

Blessed Are the Peacemakers

Today is a day to remember the brave men and women who have served, or fallen in service to, our country. They fought to preserve the freedoms with which God has blessed our nation—the very freedoms that give us the liberty to worship our God.

But freedom does not mean absence of conflict. Do you ever feel as though you are in the middle of your own war? What’s the level of conflict in your life right now? Do you get along with your boss and coworkers? Been laid off? That will crank up your internal stress level. How about your home life? What’s the mood in your home right now?

God in his wonderful Word tells us that we can be players in this game of shaping and influencing the level of conflict in our world. “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you” (Ephesians 4:29,32).

Anyone can ramp up anger. Jesus Christ calls us to make peace between people. We who have been loved and forgiven unconditionally can do no less than share that same attitude with the people around us, whether we think they deserve it or not. Do you love to argue and win fights? Do you think you can let Jesus teach you to find even more joy in making peace?

One Day Full of Grace

God’s grace is his unmerited and unlimited favor for those who are truly his. It’s his relentless determination to let nothing stand in the way of his love for his children.

Throughout One Day Full of Grace is woven the story of God’s great love—as it’s shown to many in the Bible, as it’s displayed in the author’s life and family, and how it’s a part of each Christian’s life. You’ll learn how you can fill your life with God’s goodness and mercy each and every day.
