Turn your life around
At age 15, Frank Abagnale started his six-year stint as a con man. (Themovie Catch Me if You Canis based on his life story.) When he was 16, he posed as a pilot, passed the bar exam, masqueraded as a doctor, and became a master at forging checks and embezzling. After being caught at age 21, he spent six years in prison. He was paroled with the condition that he would turn his life around, using his powers for good to help the federal government.
His story is a lot like a man called Saul. He hated people who followed Jesus so much that he persecuted them. One day, Jesus met him on a road and turned his life around. (And even gave him a new name: Paul.) God used Paul’s intensity and devotion for good—to teach others, to speak to government officials, to plant and encourage churches all over his part of the world.
Their stories are a lot like ours. We were born sinful and could do nothing about it. That’s why God sent Jesus—to take our punishment and to give us credit for his perfection. He completely turned the trajectory of our eternal destination around. “Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life” (John 5:24).
You are no longer dead, but alive. And now you use his powers for his good and his glory.
