You are valuable to God.
Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows (Matthew 10:29-31).
What do you do when you see a penny on the ground? Do you bend down and pick it up? Or, do you pass it by?
Most of us pass it by. There’s certainly nothing you can buy these days with a single penny. It’s just not worth the effort.
Sadly, many people feel like their lives have very little value, that they are worthless and over-looked. I talk with people almost daily who feel this way. I bet you do too.
But the Good News is that in God’s eyes, everyone has value. The Gospel is the evidence. God declared your worth to him by the great love he demonstrated toward you in Christ. As John wrote, “In this is love, not that we loved God but that he loved us and sent his son Jesus to be the propitiation for our sins” (1 John 4:10).
I’ll never forget when I first realized this marvelous truth.
A wonderful bible teacher explained to me that if I were the only person on the planet, God still would have sent Jesus to die in my place so that I could experience new life in Him.
That made a huge difference in my life. I hope it will make a huge difference in your life.
God did not overlook you. You were in his mind even before the foundation of the world. At a point in time, he demonstrated your value to him by redeeming you through the precious blood of Jesus, blood more valuable than gold and silver. God, in his infinite love, picked you up and gave you the greatest gift of all—Jesus Christ. He died in your place so that you could experience new life in him.
Far from being worthless and insignificant, you are a treasured child of God. Let that make a difference in your life.
