A Mother's Life
2 TIMOTHY 1:1-5
In Scripture, we learn that both Timothy's mother and grandmother demonstrated genuine faith. My mother’s own life revealed to me many important life principles.
Forgive Others. Mother taught me about forgiveness by demonstrating how she forgave others.
Have a Servant's Spirit. I watched Mom do things for others her whole life. Even when she was the guest, she looked for ways to serve.
Live an Orderly Life. Mom believed in being prepared and not having to hurry. From her, I learned to be organized and not to waste time or effort.
Encourage People. My mother knew the power of a positive word. She never said anything to put me down or discourage me. She would, however, correct me when I was wrong and urge me to do the right thing.
Love Unconditionally. Through marriage to my stepfather, my mother demonstrated this truth beautifully. Her example led me to have a forgiving spirit toward him later in my life. And my mother’s unconditional love for me was the greatest gift she could give me.
Be Persistent. My mom firmly believed that God would give her the strength to do what had to be done. Her focus, determination, and resilience helped me understand much about the Christian life.
While I learned these values from my mother, they can be demonstrated by aunts, grandmothers, and even neighbors living near children. The stronger your relationship to the Lord, the more you can have a positive impact on the young people around you. By embracing God's ways, your influence will grow.
