Three Key Questions
In the beginning the Word already existed. He was with God, and he was God. He was in the beginning with God. He created everything there is . . . . the Word became human and lived here on earth among us (John 1:1-3).
Sometime ago a bright young medical student from another country, who was a devout follower of a prominent Eastern religion, came to see me. I asked him three questions.
First, I asked, "John, who in your opinion is the greatest leader the world has ever known?"
After a moment of hesitation, he replied, "I am sure that Jesus of Nazareth has done more good than anyone who has ever lived. I would say He is the greatest leader."
Second, I asked, "Who do you think is the greatest teacher?"
No doubt he must have considered Socrates, Aristotle, Plato and the other great philosophers of ancient and modern times. But he answered, "The greatest teacher is Jesus of Nazareth."
Finally I asked, "John, in your opinion, who in the entire history of man has lived the most holy life?"
Immediately he answered that there has never been anyone like Jesus of Nazareth.
I have posed these three questions to men of all religions, even to atheists and Communists. The answer from all knowledgeable people is always the same: "Jesus of Nazareth."
I have yet to meet a man who has honestly weighed the evidence for the deity of Jesus who does not admit that He is the Son of God, the Savior of men, the promised Messiah.
There is, indeed, no one like Jesus Christ. He is completely unique among all the human beings who have ever been born into this world.
That is because he was not just a human being. He was in the form of a human being, but he was more than that. He was the unique God-man, the Son of the Living God, the Second Person of the Godhead in human form, the eternal Word made flesh.
"In the beginning the Word already existed. He was with God, and he was God. He was in the beginning with God. He created everything there is.... the Word became human and lived here on earth among us" (John 1-3, 14, NLT).
"But although the world was made through him, the world didn't recognize him when he came. Even in his own land and among his own people, he was not accepted. But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. They are reborn!" (John 1:10-12, NLT).
Yours for fulfilling the Great Commission each year until our Lord returns,
