Stop Tattling
By: Rick Boxx
April 14, 2014

When I was young I worked in an auditing department that was oftentimes dysfunctional. We had a highly-educated lady that joined our team who wanted to climb the corporate ladder quickly.

She constantly ran “tattling” to our boss about her peers, trying to eliminate them as competitors for key positions. It put everyone on edge.

Our boss could have applied Jesus’ model from Matthew 18. It would have been healthier. Jesus taught, “If your brother sins, go and show him his fault in private; if he listens to you, you have won your brother. But if he does not listen to you, take one or two more with you.”

If you have staff constantly “tattling,” require them to go one-on-one before bringing it to you. It stops frequent, unnecessary “tattling.”
