Follow the Instructions

Imagine if your boss handed you written instructions for a new project, and encouraged you to read and follow the instructions. But, then a peer tells you how they would do the project!

What if you decided to follow the peer’s advice instead of reading the instructions, only to later learn you did the job wrong?

This scenario often happens when Christians embrace prophecy over Scripture. Businesses have been destroyed by people acting on a “Word from the Lord,” never pausing to realize the proclamation conflicted with Scripture.

1 Thessalonians 5:20 teaches, “Do not treat prophecies with contempt but test them all; hold on to what is good, reject every kind of evil.”

If you believe you’ve had a “Word from God,” test it against Scripture before taking action.
