Rude or Respectful?

According to a study mentioned in a Wall Street Journal article, employers often pay more for rude and disagreeable employees. The study discovered that those employees who are difficult to work with actually make 18% more than their more agreeable peers.

Disagreeable employees, according to another study, actually come at an even greater cost to the organization. Their less than civil behavior has a tendency to increase employee turnover. If you’re an employer, hiring those who respect others, and are agreeable, is a better path.

1 Peter 2:17 teaches, “Show proper respect to everyone, love the family of believers, fear God, honor the emperor.”

Employers may at times get bullied into paying more than they should for rude behavior, but a wise boss looks for those who respect others.
