A Living Wage
By: Rick Boxx
August 20, 2015

Julie’s husband felt called to leave a public school to teach at a private Christian school. Since the private school board was made up of tuition-paying parents, they kept tuition low by paying the teachers substandard wages.

Julie began crying as she asked me, “Our family is now on food stamps and barely surviving. We’ve sacrificed greatly for my husband’s calling, wouldn’t God want the board to care for their employees?”

Paying as little as possible so that the bottom line is enhanced is not uncommon for many organizations.

Colossians 4:1 teaches, “Masters, grant to your slaves justice and fairness, knowing that you too have a Master in heaven.”

If you can’t pay a living wage, then you either need a different business model or an employee who can reasonably live on less.
