A friend defined jealousy as when someone else has more of your idol than you do. That was certainly true for me at times during my corporate life.
There were times, while climbing the corporate ladder, when I would find myself envious of the people above my level, eyeing their prized position.
1 Corinthians 10:13-14 says, "No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. Therefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry."
If you find yourself struggling with office politics consider fleeing idolatry by praying for the one you would prefer to trash.
