According to a New York Times article, New York State Senator Carl Kruger pleaded guilty to multiple bribery charges. His abuse of power is a reminder of the perverted view of accountability that some politicians seem to embrace.
With their vast powers, some elected officials believe that taxpayers are beholden to them. Unfortunately, when taxpayers offer bribes in exchange for political favors it perpetuates a politician’s feeling of superiority.
Romans 13:2 teaches, “Therefore whoever resists authority has opposed the ordinance of God; and they who have opposed will receive condemnation upon themselves.”
In America’s form of government, authority comes from voters, not the politicians. Politicians are accountable to us. To maintain a corruption free political environment we need to continually remind both the politicians and the voters of this truth.
This book details how to begin the process of being accountable to one another. It’s a practical tool for helping people who desire to have character and integrity. Purchase Character That Counts here.
